Why Generalization In Nursing?

The nursing sector is evolving due to demographic changes and a rising demand for skilled staff. This modern approach enhances job prospects, addresses staff shortages, and improves care quality. Evaluation follows in 2026.

What's changing for nursing trainees, graduates?

From 2020, trainees and graduates of traditional nursing professions face changes. The good news is that previous qualifications remain valid. Those trained under the old system can continue working without retroactive generalist training. Students beginning older courses by late 2019 will complete them under previous regulations. For instance, geriatric care training started earlier follows old laws. Switching to the new generalist nursing training is optional in specific cases.

What funding options are there for general nursing training?

Starting in 2020, school fees for nursing training are abolished, and general nursing training is free for all trainees. Students also receive training allowances funded through a shared pay-as-you-go system. Hospitals, care facilities, and the state contribute equally, ensuring no cap on apprenticeships.

Specialization options during generalist nursing training?

Future nurses can work in all areas but can also specialize during generalist training. In the third year, they choose between continuing general education, specializing as a child nurse, or becoming a geriatric nurse. This decision is made six months before training ends.
